I grew up on a dairy and crop farm in the Driftless area of southwest Wisconsin. While I moved away more than 30 years ago, the meals we shared gave me an appreciation for food that goes beyond the dinner plate. The history of local foods and customs is, to me, as interesting as the trendiest restaurants and hottest Food Network personalities.
